I'm finaly in Germany
I guess I'll start at arriving in Minneapolis from Austin.
I get off the plane and figure out where my connecting flight is so I race down to the gate so I'd know where it is and then get some thing to eat but when I got there they had already began boarding the plane. I get on the plane and there is this, I'm guessing, elderly Muslim woman in my seat and an empty one next to her. I tell her that I think that she is in my seat and she starts tapping hardly on the seat in front of her and saying something and the man in that seat gets up and says to me "Can I sit with my mother? she is very old and needs my help." A little relived I agree and sit in his seat next to a young woman from the Netherlands.
Then the plane rolls a small distance away from the terminal and sits there. The pilot gets on the intercom and says that there is a problem with the brakes and that it should be a quick fix and we won't be let off the plane. Well five hours and a few more tries later we are still on the plane. The airline decides to bring the plane to the hanger and work on it there and give us hotel, food, and taxi vouchers for the night. So we exit the plane and all 200 of us huddle around a small table and try to find the voucher with our names on it. I find mine and start to make my way to the front of the airport. On the way there I encounter a small african woman fumbling with her bags in front of an escalator. I asked her if she wanted any help and she gave me one of her bags and told me to hold her hand because she was afraid of the escalator. so with her finger nails tightly dug into my hand we made it down two and up one more escalator.
I get out side and wait for a cab and make it to the City Center Hotel. At the front desk I talk to a man about getting a room. I can't put my finger on what it was but walking away I couldn't help but quietly mutter "FREAK!" under my breath. I arrive to a room that looks a lot like the usual La Quinta type room. Desk, TV with the Lodge Net ordering feature, two queen beds and Semi dingy shower. I call home and fall asleep with the TV on.
At around 7:30 I'm awakened by loud noises not quite sure what they where I yell through the floor walls and ceiling for my fellow hotel mates to "SHUT THE HELL UP!" at 8 i give up and go down stairs for breakfast and go back up to my room in hopes of the noise to have halted, but no such luck. I finally drain out the noise and fall back asleep but then the noise invaded my dreams. I got back up at 11 I took a shower and went down stairs to find the source of the noise was construction in the hotel. I call a cab and go back to the airport.
At the airport I bought a Subway sandwich with my dinner voucher ate half of it and once more got on the plane. Once again we roll away and stop. Turns out the problem was still present.I eat the rest of my sandwich. One hour later The pilot comes on and says that they can just disable the one brake and the problem will go away. At around 5:30 we take off to cheers ending the 20 hour delay.
I get to Amsterdam at 8 in the morning and it is still dark. I got to the transfer center and get my new boarding pass to Frankfurt since I missed the other in the delay. It turns out that it is the same flight I would have been on only a day later. so I get some Euros from an ATM and fall asleep while listening to Donnie Darko on my PSP. I wake up a few hours later to a dead PSP and a feeling of nauseousness. I get on my final plane and I guess I had been moved up to first class, which on this flight, came with a different color head rest sheet, and a small meal that I didn't feel up to eating.
I land in Frankfurt and go to pick-up my luggage, they never came. I go to the baggage finding desk with about 6 others from my flight. I gave them the address to the Vaupals house and their phone number and they said I should get them the next morning, fast forward to 6:18 in the afternoon and no word from them Frau Vaupal is calling them and giving them a piece of her mind. After my baggage situation I go to the train reservation center to get a new train ticket because I was once again a day late. Get on a regional train to the main frankfurt station and then on an inter city one to get to Kassel.
On that train I ran into a problem with the conductor because I needed the Visa Card that I bought the tickets with but it was stolen along with my wallet a few weeks before, but it was settled.
I met Frau Vaupal at the train station and went home and still felling nauseous I ate a little, I'm feeling a little better now but I don't have much of an apatite, and went to bed at 10-ish I woke up at around one and did not go back to sleep until god know when.
Today I did not get out of bed until 4. I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight.
I'm getting very home sick. I don't know if it is from the stress of the past few days or if it is from the stress I know is coming when I talk to Vicky. For those who do not know word on the street is that she has found a new guy. I'm ok with that its just I wish she would had told me when it happened. As far as I know she dose not know I know this yet.
Frau Valpal just told me that when she called KLM that no one knew anything. FUCK!!! I want to scream out a long list of profanities.
